Critical Illness

Critical illness cover is designed to ease your financial pressures by paying a tax-free lump sum if you are diagnosed with a long list of qualifying illnesses and disabilities. The type and level of cover varies from each provider. For an informed view of the types of cover available we recommend visiting our section on the Association of British Insurers(ABI) Definitions which details what is actually covered. Most policies will also include equivalent life cover so that you do not have to wait if you need to make a qualifying claim.

For a young single person who does not have the responsibility of a family yet, this is considered to be one of the most relevant type of life insurance as they would have no one to look after them on diagnosis of a qualify illness or disability.

How you use the benefits is entirely up to you. Most people will look to get the best medical treatment for their situation when faced with the alternative. It can also be used to pay off a mortgage or clear outstanding debts removing financial burden instead of insuring your monthly income via an Income Protection Policy.

We can arrange critical illness cover in a number of different formats, for example it can be:

• A standalone policy - this could be most appropriate for a single person.
• Combined with life cover meaning that there would be a lump sum payment in the event of your death or a critical illness.
• Taken as contingency cover to help you cope with your outgoings during your recuperation period.

As with life insurance you can combine a critical illness policy with other benefits, such as Income Protection.. This can be more cost effective than taking out separate policies and is explained in more detail in our Mortgage Protection section.

To discuss your requirements call us on 0800 3893796 or 01483 419288. Alternatively request a call from us by completing our contact form.

The products detailed above are not investments and have no cash-in value at any time.

PLANS MAY NOT COVER ALL THE DEFINITIONS OF A CRITICAL ILLNESS. THE DEFINITIONS VARY BETWEEN PRODUCT PROVIDERS AND WILL BE DESCRIBED IN THE KEY FEATURES AND POLICY DOCUMENT, IF YOU GO AHEAD WITH THE PLAN.
